Date Recap

*splooshes in* If you hadn't heard, it's pouring buckets in the DC metro area. We have had more rain in the past few days then during Hurricane Isabella, which *gasp* shut down the Federal Government for a day. The building I work in is leaking and flooding. Mmmm, mold. And you know what the worst sound ever is? The slap whap of wet rubber from flip flops. Argh.
Anyway, I just wanted to recap my dates from last week because they were so perfect and I want to remember them.
Tuesday I went over to Jason's, and he made this angel hair pasta with sausage and peppers and mushrooms. We sat on his deck and drank wine and watched the sunset. And then he made me chocolate covered strawberries for dessert! My favorite dessert ever. Yay.
Saturday we went to the Original House of Pancakes. I had spinach crepe and potatoes and he had apple waffle. He's so sweet and easy to talk to. It's nice.

Fortunately/Unfortunately

When I was little (I think third grade) we had to write these stories called fortunately/unfortunately stories. You'd start by saying something good, then follow with the bad. You'd always end with a fortunately.
So here goes:
Fortunately my dad came to visit yesterday and his visit went well. He loved Ari. And he's absolutely not a cat person.
Unfortunately as I came in from dropping dad off, Ari got out and took off down the apartment complex for the stairs.
Fortunately I live in a closed building.
Unfortunately I couldn't find him for about a half hour and I was afraid someone would open the door and he'd get out.
Fortunately I took his little ball and crinkled it near him, and his cute face peaked out from the top of the stairs. I carried him back home.
Unfortunately I was so upset by him getting out I cried and cried.
Fortunately I talked to my Ima and she made me feel better.

I have a date tonight at Jason's- he's cooking. It should be nice. We're going to my cousin's wedding on the 15th and it's black tie. I am going to help him pick out a tux tonight.

In Praise of My Dad

I’m a daddy’s girl. It drives Ima crazy that I have him wrapped around my little finger. He’s like that with all of us, always going out of his way to help us. He loves hugging me and my sister tight…he calls them “double daughter hugs.”
Dad took me to my first Caps game when I was five, and I loved it. I loved the sights and sounds, and I loved that it was just me and my dad. Even when I was a total selfish, screwed up, horrible brat when I was in my first two years of college, dad I could still talk about hockey. I got him an Ovechkin jersey (autographed) and when he opened it he said “Woo-hoo!” I treasure all the articles he’s sent me, all the cheesy poems he writes me (one every year on my birthday) and all the hugs he’s given me. We watched Monster’s Inc. together and he got teary eyed at the end. I know he was thinking of me as the little girl. I’m proud to be his daughter.

More Jason stories tomorrow...I promise.

Meet the Parents

Jason and I had lunch with his parents and his sister on Sunday at his house.
His mom made burgers and salad with grilled shrimp and grilled eggplant. Oh, and steak too. It was delicious. I had a nice time. His parents are Greek immigrants, and sometimes the family talks to each other in Greek. It's a very nice sounding language. Then he came over and we watched Spider Mann 2. It was good. And afterwards he told me he can't stop thinking about me. So I asked him out.

Mmm...chocolate

I'm off to Hershey tomorrow with Abbi and Marie. Yes, Abbi and I made up. I can't stay mad at anyone ever. The Caps minor league team is in the Calder Cup final, the AHL equivalent of the Stanley Cup. It should be very exciting. Last year when the Caps were affiliated with the Portland Pirates, I went up there. It was during the lockout, and I NEEDED HOCKEY. Yay for playoff hockey.

In Full Bloom

Things are going well with Jason. We had dinner last night for and spent a couple of hours talking and laughing. He's coming over Sunday. I'm happy. :)
