Good Weekend

I had a very nice weekend. I played in a live action role-playing game on Saturday afternoon with Dan and Linda and a bunch of other people I didn't know. It was wicked hot, but I had a great time.
Saturday night I went over to Jason's and he made me dinner (salmon and rice and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.) When we were sitting at the dinner table, I told him it was nice sometimes to go back and reread parts of my blog. He had this look on his face, and I should have known then he'd looked at it. Later on, I wanted to show him the nice things I said about him and I was typing the address in the computer and it filled it in for me. That's when I realized he had already seen it. And I freaked out a little. (okay, I freaked out for several minutes) I've admitted some very deviant behavior in my blog. Although on reflection, it's not that bad. I'm not sure I'd want him to know EXACTLY how many people I've slept with since I started this thing, but on the other hand I was single, and I might add, I am very cute. *sigh*
Anyway he made me breakfast in the morning which was very sweet and I left to go watch my friend John play baseball. I was a little late, but I did get to see him get two base hits, and he stole two bases to score. He stole home, which was pretty funny. We had lunch together, and I told him all about how things were going with Jason. He was happy for me, and said "Well, now that you've got your personal life in order, you just have to get your work life in order." It's nice to have friends.
So does your SO read your blog? Are you sure? *grin*

*Swoon*

Dan invited Jason and I to his pool and hot tub last night. It was a gorgeous night for a swim. I was in the pool, talking to my friends and I saw Jason make his way over to the diving board. He did a perfect dive into the water, and came up next to me. Let me tell you, I swooned on the spot. It was breathtaking. Whew.
*fans self*
There's some cologne commercial where the perfect looking guy dives in the water and comes out, water dripping over his dark hair and gorgeous skin. This was like that. Whew.
Later that night when he drove me home he took me in his arms and kissed me. He cupped my face in his hands and smiled and said "I've been waiting all day to do that."
Whew.
I could really get used to this.

Full Court Press

There's one minute to go in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. I've pulled my goalie for an extra attacker and we're throwing everything we can at the net.

That's how I'm approaching finding a new job. I went back to NDU on Monday, and there is a travel coordinator job coming up in one of the schools. I talked to the guy who would be my boss and he thinks I would be good at it. As soon as the job posts I will bid on it. I also applied for an administrative assistant job working for a group of professors at ICAF.
I applied for an administrative position at NIH, but with a different group.
I talked to my friend Charles who works at NDU, and also owns his own contracting company. He told me he is bidding on a job that would be good for me, and he is also going to pass my resume along. It was so nice to go back to a place where I heard how well I was liked and what a good job I did after being beaten down here.
I'm talking to a couple of recruiters too. I figure the more people that help me, the better. I just want out of here. It will be so nice to walk out on them (hopefully right at the peak of the end of the fiscal year) before they push me out.

Always Look On the Bright Side of Life

I work as an Administrative Technician for the National Cancer Institute. There is a lot of working with different automated computer systems, a lot of looking over things, not a lot of human interraction. I don't hate it, but it's not the best fit for me. I did want to get into the government, so I left my job at the National Defense University where I was a rock star.
*sigh*
Anyway, I work directly with two Administrative Officers, Linda and Kelli. My boss is Larry.
You know the guy in the Incredibles who straightens the pencil when Bob bumps it...yeah, that's my boss. Kelli is a lot like him. Needless to say, we don't always see eye to eye. She's very very anal. I'm very very not. She lives for this job. I really don't think she has much else.
Today I had a meeting with Linda, Kelli and Larry. They told me that once my probationary period is over, they aren't going to offer me the job permanently. This was not a total shock to me. There were always a lot of little nitpicky things that Larry would point out I was doing wrong....out of the hundreds of travel authorizations I review he'd point out four things I overlooked. I've been singled out, and I don't know why. I ran all this by the other admin tech, just in case I had been missing how awful I am, and she agrees they are idiots.
So now I have two months to try to find a new job. There is no severance in a probationary period. I think I only have to give two weeks notice. I will find out. They probably want meet to stay until my time is up, the end of September. Conveniently this is the end of the fiscal year for the feds. I plan, of course, on leaving so they are in the most chaos possible.
Well anyway, it's only a job. I have a chance now to do something that is a better fit for me. Huzzah.

She's the Nuts

With the wedding of my cousin on Saturday, I've been thinking about my family a lot. Whenever my Poppie George was pleased with everyone being together he would say, "what a party" and "this is the nuts." I don't know why. But that reminded me of Nutzy, of course. She ALWAYS has something nice to say on my blog. She's goofy, and fun, and #1 on my list of OT people I don't know, but would LOVE to meet. So here's to you, Nutzy, you're the nuts. :)

How I Ditched my Vibrator

Around Thanksgiving, I met a guy in the grocery store. He seemed like a nice guy, and when he asked me out I said sure. M is 27, Jewish, with brown hair and blue eyes. He looks a lot like Matt Damon. He was flying to Bermuda with his family the week of Christmas, and stayed the night before his flight at the Marriott in Crystal City. I stayed with him, and we had a lot of fun.
His longest relationship thus far has been five months, and he made it clear from the start he was looking for fun and nothing serious. This was fine with me. It got to the point where he stopped all pretense of doing other things, no more dinners…he’d just come over, we’d sleep together, he’d leave. Leah (that’s my sister) called him my vibrator; he’s a good temporary buzz, but he’s not as good as the real thing.
He called me once when Jason and I were getting back from a date, and once when Leah and I were having dinner with Jason. So then I guess he went away, because he just called again Sunday. I told him that I was with Jason, and he seemed happy for me. We actually talked for a while. Of course, he told me if we ever break up I’d better be his first call. So that’s how I got rid of my vibrator. ;)

The Devil is in the...

Things I like about Jason:
His hair is streaked with silver (he's 34) which I think is super sexy.
He has no back hair. (really, who likes back hair?)
His body is just right (IMO) lean with nicely defined shoulders and a trim waist and nice legs.
He wants to do all this fun stuff with me. We went tubing down Antietum Creek yesterday...picnic lunch and everything. It was so nice.
We had dinner Thursday (I cooked) with my sister and he made her laugh a bunch of times which is always nice.
I feel like he's the other half of me...I'm just so content when I am with him. He makes me feel like the person I've always wanted to be.

Tonight we're going out to dinner in Old Town Gaithersburg and then he's going to sleep over. I am so excited...I may just explode from happiness. Yes, it will be our first time together. I have a feeling we're not going to get out much tomorrow. :)
